The Song of the Little Ant
„Tra-la-la, tra-la-la…” — The Little Ant always sang cheerfully as he marched through the green, endless fields.
One day, lost in his melody, he wandered into a thicket of grass and moss.
The Little Ant was tiny and had never left his anthill before.
He was very scared — alone, among shadows, without his mom and without friends.
„Where should I go now?” — cried the Ant, running in circles. He really wanted to go back to his mother.
Suddenly, a loud noise was heard. A huge, clumsy spider stared at the Ant, rubbing his legs.
He was very old and slow.
The Spider didn’t frighten the Ant, though he wanted to run away.
„I don’t understand you, Little Ant. What are you doing so far from home?” — asked the Spider, climbing onto his web.
He thought for a moment about eating the Ant. He would be easy prey.
It was getting late.
„Don’t eat me, clumsy Spider!” — cried the Ant. — „I can be your friend.”
