He woke up, thinking she is still here, asleep. But she wasn’t. And with no sound coming from any other place, he assumed she is gone. She took her clothes, as fast as she could, because of his still scattered on the floor.

She was always doing this when in hurry. With no short notes, like it didn’t matter to him that she was gone. Now, it’s his time to get up and go to work.

And he was just a simple, quiet officer, who didn’t think about any promotion. Not like it bothered him, his wife he married over seven years ago. She did question him about what he really wants to do, if not becoming more than just a cop who watches streets and stops people who drive too fast. He didn’t know how to say it straight. He didn’t know, which word would hurt her and her job. Because he saw so many detectives being divorced due to their job, he didn’t want to say it out loud. That he was scared of their marriage, slowly drifting apart and not even noticing it.
