Chapter 1 Sweet life

Possession of money never was the strong side of Clark. Since he became the shareholder of own space ship, his wealth grew suddenly, however together with them, charges applied. Therefore exactly Klark decided to save some money for the future. You may say, unknown future. No one knows what the future will hold for you until … He found special hiding place in his new house for that purpose. Then there is the special hiding-place that must be in his new apartment in New City. Hiding-place that was to this time through him that uses not give up to him to be safe. Finally the piece of metallic box in a hole in a wall guarantees nothing, and do not guard important documents and money.

In new, wonderful world of the colony, over two hundred years after the last war on the Earth, many residents decided — as soon as possible- to emigrate. High taxation, poor views on having a career, essentially nothing interesting, all that matters seemed to be far away on newly discovered planets. It is hard to blame anybody. Last survivors which still stayed on the Earth paid by the Government of the Federation aren’t toiling a lot. As a matter of fact, there are only few reasons to stay. A pile of rubble, a few trenches, craters after air raids. New Wonderful World is beginning only somewhere in surroundings of Mars if not farther.

As expected by all, apart from a group of politicians who opposed the development of humanity, wishing to enslave their voters and to persuade them to work hard for their sake, modern technologies were developed. It has turned out that governments have for years masked research into the development of modern transport methods, desiring them to inevitably use to escape the more upset choices in case of problems. Fortunately, the media revealed the research being conducted, and soon the technology was developed by Corporations.

Clark hired almost his own ship, to carry various goods between Gamma Gemini and the surrounding villages, as he called it. Indigenous planet Gamma, inhabited by colonists, working on extraction of various raw materials needed daily necessities. But also things that are so special and hard to access, like wine or whiskey. Unfortunately, many types of goods, including alcohol, were forbidden, and the ship, which was caught on their unlicensed shipment, could face considerable trouble. However, it was this tragic trade that brought the greatest profits. Clark’s clipboard was supposed to allow him to collect a small fortune that should not be found in the logs of the World Bank. This would raise a lot of suspicion and soon be able to end the career. Working on the planet, Clark acted as a merchant and a trader, leading the official and less formal negotiations. Today he was supposed to meet someone who wanted to bring something particularly valuable to one of the asteroids, where uranium was extracted. The meeting was supposed to start in a few minutes. This time, however, his intuition told him that there could be much more trouble than that. A representative of the Syndicate claimed to have smuggled, claiming rights to several solar systems in the galaxy, and was actively fighting and hated. Therefore refusal of assistance could end up for the Clark ship differently. So, forcing himself to help, he was afraid that he would not find himself in trouble shortly. Thoughtful, deep in his thoughts, Clark went quickly to the communications room in the basement of his residence. Here and here only he could talk to anyone without fear, using special antispyware equipment. One more element that goes beyond the standard corporate approvals.

Chapter 2 Meeting

Clark sat down in front of the intercom screen of the communicator. The red triangle flashed in the middle of the screen. It was accompanied by a loud buzz, which was supposed to report about external connection. Clark took a deep breath, making sure that everything in his surroundings was in place, turning on the communication button:

“Yes, hello,” — he said aloud.

The intercom system allowed for speaking in any way or even foreign language because it had a translation system for all known languages. But Clark did not want to start a business conversation with the passe. That is why he tried to speak loudly, but not too loudly. At the same time, looking straight at the camera, mused at the image.

“Hello,” — said a low female voice from the other side of the screen…
